Marechal Niel
(Noisette)
Introduced as far back as 1864, it still remains
unequalled in color and popularity. As a climbing rose
for covering the roof of a conservatory it is most
useful and attractive, but, having a delicate
constitution, requires a south or south-west wall when
grown in the open. Should be sparingly pruned, unless
blooms are required for exhibition
purposes. |

Marquise De Sinety
(Hybrid Tea)
A distinct and very beautiful garden rose. B3eing
free in habit of growth, it is very useful for bedding,
and with its coppery orange colouring, shaded to fiery
red, it is at once attractive and pleasing. Introduced
in 1906, it is undoubtedly the best of its colour, and
has become very popular. Thrives best on a light
soil. |

Meg Merrilies
(Sweet Briar)
One of the Hybrid Sweet Briar roses raised by Lord
Penzance in 1893. Both foliage and flower are
deliciously fragrant. It produces a profusion of bloom
during June and July, followed by enormous quantities of
scarlet hips. Requires little pruning, and is quite
hardy. Recommended for forming impenetrable hedges of
great beauty. |

MME. Abel Chatenay
(Hybrid Tea)
This variety is undoubtedly the most popular rose in
its section. The long pointed flowers, produced
abundantly and continuously, call forth admiration from
all, whether grown in standard, half-standard, or bush
form. It is hardy, vigorous, and should be sparingly
pruned. For bedding and decoration it is unequalled.
Introduced in 1895. |

MME. Pernet Ducher
(Hybrid Tea)
A perfect garden rose, producing freely and
continuously, exquisitely formed buds, on long erect
stems, suitable for button-holes or house decoration,
lasting well in water. Very free and quite hardy, it
requires slight pruning, and will thrive best in a rich
loam soil. Introduced in 1892. |
