Kaiserin Augusta Victoria
(Hybrid Tea)
Introduced in 1891, it is a very useful exhibition
and garden rose. The flowers are large and perfect in
form, produced on erect stems. It is free and continuous
flowering, and thrives best in a rich loamy soil. The
constitution of this rose necessitates pruning at the
end of March to obtain the best
results. |

La France
(Hybrid Tea)
Introduced in 1867, it is an old friend to all lovers
of the "queen of flowers," and one which well deserves
its popularity. The flowers are large, full, and
globular, with pointed centre. It is one of the most
abundant bloomers, and in perfume the sweetest of all
roses. Habit of growth vigorous and
upright. |

Lady Ashtown
(Hybrid Tea)
The flowers are large, full, with perfect pointed
centre, and it is undoubtedly one of the leading roses
in this section for bedding purposes and for exhibition.
Being quite hardy, and vigorous in habit of growth, it
requires very little pruning, except when grown for
exhibition purposes. Introduced in 1904. |

Lady Gay
(Wichuraiana)
One of the most popular rambling roses ever
introduced. Belonging to the section known as the
Wichuraianas and introduced in 1905, it flow3rs during
July in large pyramidal trusses, borne on long stems,
and is therefore most valuable for decorative purposes.
It is a rampant grower with fine glossy foliage, and
should be sparingly pruned. |

Lady Penzance
(Sweet Briar)
A Hybrid Sweet Briar raised by Lord Penzance in 1904.
It is deliciously fragrant in flower and foliage, and
grows to a height of 5 feet or 6 feet. It is very useful
for hedges, being hardy, and a very strong grower.
Undoubtedly one of the best of its class, and should not
be severely pruned. |
