Heliotrope or Cherry Pie

A half hardy perennial plant of semi climbing habit that is largely grown for its fragrant flowers. Propagated by cuttings rooted in a warm greenhouse in autumn. The young plants are grown in a warm greenhouse for bedding out the following summer. Old plants are also kept in a warm house for the winter, and used for bedding.

Love in a Mist

A hardy plant that is very useful for cutting. Propagated by seed sown in the open in spring or autumn, preferably the latter season where the soil is sandy. Will thrive in almost any soil. The flowers are densely surrounded by the finely cut foliage, which gives rise to its popular name. The variety named "Miss Jekyll" is a very pretty flower. Height 2 ft.

Ageratum

A half hardy annual plant, which may be kept over the winter as a perennial. Propagated by cuttings taken in autumn or spring. May also be raised from seeds sown under glass in slight heat in early spring. Used largely for summer bedding where the soil is rather sandy but well enriched. Height from 9 ins. to 15 ins.

Wild Hyacinth

A hardy bulbous plant that is a native of Great Britain, being commonly known as the Bluebell of our woods and copses. Propagated by offsets from the bulbs and from seed sown in the open as soon as ripe. A splendid plant for naturalizing in open woodland spaces where the soil is well drained. There are a number of varieties. Height 12 ins. to 18 ins.

Sea Lavender

A hardy herbaceous perennial plant that is very useful for growing in sea side gardens as well as those inland. Propagated by division in spring. Must have well drained soil, preferably that containing a good amount of sand. If cut and dried just as they are fully expanded, the leaves will last in good condition for a long time. Height 1 foot to 15 inches.
