Iberian Cranesbills
A hardy perennial plant that is very useful for growing
in rockwork, banks, and similar places. Propagated by
division in autumn or spring. Will thrive in almost any
good garden, soil, that which is well drained however,
being essential. There is a variety of it named
platyphyllum, which has broader and more handsome
petals. Height 1 foot to 15 inches.

Monkey Flower
A hardy perennial herbaceous plant of dwarf, training
habit. Easily propagated by division, or by cuttings
rooted in a frame in early summer. A useful plant for
carpeting the ground in damp places. May also be grown
in pots, baskets, or window boxes where the latter are
in the shade. Likes moderately rich soil. Height 9
inches to 1 foot.

Lily of the Valley
A hardy low growing perennial that is a native of Great
Britain. Propagated by division of the crowns in spring.
Should be grown I a partially shaded place preferably
under lofty trees. Likes a moderately damp and rich
soil. Retarded crowns are largely grown in pots for
forcing in greenhouses, and by these means flowers can
be obtained all the year round.

Goat's Rue
A hardy perennial plant with beautiful foliage. Very
useful for cutting. Propagated by division in autumn or
spring. Likes deeply dug and well enriched soil. Useful
for planting in borders, as it continues to flower for a
long time. There are several varieties, including one
with white flowers and another with variegated leaves.
Height 3 feet.

Golden Rod
A hardy herbaceous perennial plant useful for the
border, wild garden, and also for cutting. Largely used
for harvest festival decorations. Propagated by division
during autumn, winter, or spring. Will grow well in
almost any soil, and soon forms very large plants if
left alone. Should be lifted and divided at least once
in three years. Height 3 feet to 6 feet.
